Watching the video during the sax part drove something home to me. Prior to Tunnel of Love, Clarence was clearly the Right Hand Man. Patti sort of replaced him in that role for a while (as wives/girlfriends will). After the Big Man died, Steve was the main man on stage for Bruce until, I think, the 2016 tour. From that point on, it's been Jake; I think when Bruce looks at him, he sees himself and Clarence 50 years ago.
