Throwback Thursday: The Worst Movie Adaptation Ever
It should have never been made
Last week, I wrote a piece about the 40th anniversary of the novel Less Than Zero, calling it the most disturbing novel I’ve ever read. Since the story was about the book and not the film of the same name, I only inserted one paragraph warning people against what is, in my opinion, the worst film adaptation of a novel ever made. At that point, I thought I was done with the thing until its next anniversary in 2035.
I was wrong.
For the past six days I have worried that the warning about the film was overlooked, ignored, or will for whatever other reason will go unheeded. Thus, for Throwback Thursday, I am resurrecting a story about how truly abominable the adaptation was from 2021 (when I had about 12 followers who only read my stories about Bruce Springsteen).
