Saving an old story from obscurity

It’s a rainy Thursday here in the Great State of Confusion (also known as Texas), and I just noticed that I have not done one of the ever-popular Throwback Thursday episodes in over a month (“ever-popular” being a relative term). I started the whole exercise a couple of years ago to highlight older articles that have fallen into obscurity, as most things on the internet do after 24 to 48 hours, and the results have been decidedly mixed.

I think the biggest problem with the format is that it includes a link to the original story, and even in the most trustworthy of online spaces we have been conditioned (wisely) to never click on a link. Neither scenario is pleasant.

Therefore, for this month’s Throwback Thursday installment I am changing the format somewhat. In resurrecting (or at least hoping to resurrect) a short story from 2021, I will not be including the link; I am putting in the entire story. I probably wouldn’t do that with a piece on books or movies, and definitely not a Springsteen story (if you can’t trust…
