Throwback Thursday: Seven Summer Reading Challenges That Are More Fun Than Getting in Swimsuit Shape

And far more enjoyable than yard work

The handful of friends and family who follow me on Facebook know that at the start of every month I post a video of a live version of “Born to Run” (aka The Greatest Song Ever). In a similar vein, those who follow me here know that once a month I publish a Throwback Thursday piece calling attention to an older article that has fallen into the great abyss known as the internet. In both cases, I fully realize that some skim right past these now-familiar recurring pieces (if you choose only one, definitely watch the Springsteen video) but I am too old and too stubborn to change now.

Another semi-recurring event during my three years on this site is a reading challenge article; I typically issue these challenges at the start of summer and again in the fall. However, because of events beyond my control over the past six months, I have not read enough new books or explored enough new genres to issue a completely new challenge. Thus, in order to keep the streak going, I am using May’s Throwback Thursday slot to highlight a summer reading challenge from a year ago for those who either never saw it or may want to revisit it for inspiration this year.
