Throwback Thursday: 10 Songs From the Glorious 1980s I Just Can’t Stand
They still need to go away
It’s been a few months since I published the exercise in futility that is the Throwback Thursday article, and because I do love exercises in futility, I thought it was time to bring it back at least once over the summer. I shouldn’t be surprised at the typically tepid response to these, since Thursday is the red-headed stepchild of the days of the week. It lacks the cool of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday while not being horrible enough to be hated like Monday. And it obviously could never compete with Tuesday because of tacos. The only positive claims poor Thursday can make are that it’s the day before Friday and that it hosts the somewhat-but-not-really-popular Throwback Thursday thing.
Throwback Thursday started out simply enough: it was a way for us to post old pictures of ourselves on social media, fondly recalling those bygone days when we had hair, no kids, and fit into those size 32 jeans. It has also become a way to draw attention to older articles; I have tried it numerous times, with decidedly mixed results. I keep at it because, as I said, I love a hopeless cause as much as anyone; I’ve been a Texas Rangers baseball fan my whole life, if that tells you anything.
