Three Songs for the Writing Life: Rate-A-Record Edition
A few tunes to spark your muse
We’re one week into the new year, which almost certainly means many of you are a week into some new writing project (novel, short story collection, epic poem told in 13th century Middle English, etc.). It is also possible that only a week into the new year you need some writer-centric tunes to help rouse your muse from her slumber. Thus, for this week’s Rate-A-Record we’ll be rating three songs with authorial themes.
As a side note, if you are wondering why this is publishing on Saturday rather than Sunday, the answer is simple: geography. Earlier this week my 84-year-old mother developed a rather nasty case of pneumonia and had to be hospitalized. My parents live in the boondocks of East Texas, so the only time I have a reliable internet connection is when I’m at the hospital. I could have scheduled it for later, but Medium has been so wonky lately I just don’t trust it.
Hopefully she will get to go home soon and I will return to the land of reliable connection speeds, though watching a tiny blonde climb down from a jacked-up truck with a Glock proudly strapped to her belt the other day reminded me why I loved it here back in the ’90s. Regardless, here are three writerly songs to make your day better.
