The Two Best Marvel Movie Soundtracks: Rate-A-Record With a Twist
Let’s change things up a bit
It’s no secret that a great soundtrack impacts our reaction to a film. From the exuberance of A Hard Day’s Night to the nostalgia of American Graffiti, the songs chosen for a film can take the experience to a new level, helping us connect in a way we wouldn’t without the music. Many times, the soundtrack even far outshines the film it’s a part of (I wrote about some examples of this here).
This is true even in the films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s nearly impossible to think of Tony Stark’s Iron Man without immediately hearing AC/DC in your head; “Shoot to Thrill” actually showed up in two films, Iron Man 2 and The Avengers, and rightly so. In my opinion, the music from both Guardians of the Galaxy soundtracks is much more memorable than either of the films (except for scenes with Rocket and Groot, who are awesome).
In Black Widow we get “American Pie. In Ant-Man and the Wasp there are (surprisingly) two Morrissey songs, “First of the Gang to Die” and “Everyday is like Sunday.” Each of the three Spider-Man films feature a standout tune: “Blitzkrieg Bop” by the Ramones in Spider-Man: Homecoming, “Vacation” by The Go-Go’s in Spider-Man: Far From Home, and “No Sleep till Brooklyn” by the Beastie Boys in Spider-Man: No Way Home…
