The SBC's position is, ironically, no different than that of the Catholic and Orthodox churches, which make up roughly 49% of the Christians on the planet and do not ordain women as pastors either. The same is true for the vast majority of non-denominational evangelical churches that don't lean Pentecostal. It's only outside the norm when compared to mainline Protestant churches. I have known several awesome female pastors (all Presbyterian, for what that's worth), and have had this discussion with all of them. Their answers were the same: "If you don't believe the Bible allows women to be pastors, fine; go Catholic or Orthodox or Baptist. It doesn't matter which, since only Presbyterians get into heaven."
