The ‘Great Songs To Sing in the Rain’ Writing Challenge

It’s springtime, after all

It’s been a while since I issued a writing challenge; I’ve been content to allow responding to other people’s prompts to send my other writing plans completely off the rails. But as it’s springtime and has been raining here lately, I thought a prompt about rain would be appropriate now; in another month the rain will end here until October.

I apologize in advance to my friends in California who are so sick of rain they don’t even want to hear the word, but for the rest of you the challenge is simple: choose some great songs about rain (that includes songs about storms, thunder, lightning, etc.). They don’t have to be songs you would sing in the rain; I called it the “Great Songs To Sing in the Rain” challenge simply because that title scored higher than any others I thought of (I want readers to find the thing, especially given how few are finding me lately).

You will see that I have left off some obvious ones, and that was intentional. It would be rude to snatch those up and then issue the challenge, leaving you to scramble for scraps. I’ll also be interested to see who claims which songs first.

All that said, let’s go singing in the rain.
