In a blatant attempt to get me back for drawing him into writing about his favorite movies from every year he’s been alive, Eric Pierce countered with a music prompt he knew I could not resist. I may complain a lot about Texas, but I am a proud Texan complainer, and given the prompt of “The Most Popular Songs That Have Something to Do With My Home State,” I had to either respond or move to Oklahoma. You can read Eric’s story below; he’s got some solid Michigan tunes.

I wanted to make mine a little more challenging, though, so I put some restrictions on myself. Obviously the song has to be about Texas in some way, but I’ve added the caveat that the artist also has to be from Texas. That means no “Cadillac Ranch” from Springsteen (New Jersey), no “Texas Women” from Hank Williams Jr (Louisiana), and no “El Paso” from Marty Robbins (Arizona). I also did not include his “Connection Rating” section because all of these are 10 out of 10 Texas to the core. The only other change I made was from “most popular”…
