Use only in a dire emergency
I am currently sitting in a hospital room while my mom recovers from pneumonia, marveling at how far medical technology has advanced since my last hospital visit (and yet how little hospital food has improved). Something that is definitely new is the bed she is in, which has more bells and whistles than the Apollo Lunar Module that landed on the moon. One of those bells and whistles is what has prompted both a question in my mind and this article in response to that question.

What I know for sure is that she is not a fan of smooth jazz; she would much prefer Classic Country (Charley Pride, Charlie Rich, Gene Watson), but apparently this hospital doesn’t offer quality music.
The question that this has brought to mind is both existential and practical: if I was under sedation, what music would be the best to help my condition improve? And by sedation, I mean physician-supervised and medically…
