People love to shorten things nowadays, don’t they? Even things that are already very short! For example, my name is Pierce and my wife’s name is Lisa. Both are fairly short names, but sometimes people call us, respectively, ‘Pier’ and ‘Lis’ (pronounced lease) while they’re talking with us.
