Six Superb Springsteen Articles You May Have Missed

If you were to scroll through my articles from the past ten months I’ve been writing here, you might notice that I occasionally write about Bruce Springsteen. By occasionally, I mean somewhere between weekly and daily, but at least it’s never hourly. I do this because the man has been a huge part of my life for five decades (second only to the Church in terms of impact, an experience we share), and my desire to spread the gospel of Bruce is not dissimilar to what a 16th century Jesuit felt as he headed off for the Amazon basin.
Much like an Old Testament prophet crying out in the wilderness, however, it can sometimes feel like I’m preaching into a gale force wind, where few hear and even fewer care. Converts to the Fellowship of the E Street Band come in ones and twos, not in the thousands St. Peter saw at Pentecost. It’s almost enough to make me write fewer articles about him. Almost.
Then there are days like today, days that reinvigorate my faith and strengthen my resolve by reminding me that I am by no means the only E Street evangelist out there. We are not as legion as Taylor Swift’s army of Swifties, but we are resilient; we’ve were spreading the good news about “Born to Run” when Taylor’s mom was still in high school.
