It was a quiet summer on the writing prompt front, mainly because notorious troublemaker Buddy Gott was on a prompting hiatus. That ended today, and with a vengeance. After a few updates about the Plethora of Pop publication, he casually slips in this challenge: “What Songs Would Have Been on Your Back-To-School Playlist?”

In a nutshell, with school finally starting back, he challenges you to pick a grade or year that you went to school and make a playlist of songs that you would have enjoyed listening to at that time. The year or grade doesn’t matter; if you were in kindergarten in 1967 and clearly remember The Doors’ first album, feel free to go that route. If you were a college sophomore when Nirvana and Pearl Jam hit, you could go that direction as well. It’s totally up to you.

As for me, I chose the same year Buddy did: 1980. We are the same age and thus were both freshmen in high school. You will see from his story below, however, that we were not listening to the same music at the time. I was clearly more of a miscreant.
