Same Title, Different Song: A Twist on the Usual Rate-A-Record

I’ve been doing a weekly (give or take a few days) installment of Rate-A-Record ever since that miscreant Terry Barr introduced the idea back in the summer of 2022, but today’s is special: somehow, this is the 75th Rate-A-Record story I’ve written. The only person probably more shocked than me is Terry, who surely never imagined when he wrote that first article that I (and many others) would still be stealing what he originally stole from Dick Clark and American Bandstand.

For this auspicious diamond edition, I knew I needed to include Springsteen; what I did not know was how. As you may have noticed, I’ve written about him a few times over the past three years, and finding the right topic that also fit with Rate-A-Record was vexing me. I was terribly vexed.

I was ultimately saved earlier today by, of all things, Avengers: Age of Ultron. I have said before that I have the attention span of cocker spaniel on crystal meth, and you’re about to see exactly what I mean. While channel surfing in an effort to convince myself that I was doing “research” rather than simply procrastinating, I ended up on Disney+. While on Disney+, I had to scroll through the Marvel films to see which one of the Infinity Saga movies it was time to watch again…
