There has been a spike in stories about country music recently, including the two below from Terry Barr and Alex Markham:

As for me, even though I’ve been exiled in East Texas for most of 2023 and watching rodeo every night, I’ve heard very little country music lately. One reason for this is that I’ve only been listening to the classic albums competing in the Rate-An-Album March Madness tournament (there’s a link to the final at the end of this article). The other is that they play very little country music during the rodeo competitions; I suppose “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Thunderstruck” inspire a bull rider more than “All My Ex’s Live in Texas.” On a side note, I think George Strait got the title wrong here; the plural of Ex is Exes.
