As if I needed another reason
If you are a regular reader of my music articles, you know that in addition to worshiping Springsteen and The Smiths, I have an almost irrational love for Joan Jett. If you read my rants, you know that on several occasions I have defended both Joan and Bruce against the insane ramblings of a mediocre musician from Detroit whose name I try not to use (I will in this piece only because there’s no getting around it), most recently in the article below from February.
In an article published on Billboard.com yesterday, Joan Jett was asked about the Motor City Motor Mouth’s statement in January that she did not belong in Rolling Stone’s list of 100 greatest guitarists, a list from which he was rightly excluded. His comments were vile in the extreme and filled with the usual slurs he is so fond of, which is no shock to anyone familiar with him. Being the class act that she is, Jett had not taken the bait and responded.
