None of My Favorite Albums of 2022 Were From 2022
Call me a grumpy old Luddite
We’re only four days from the end of the year, and there have been a plethora of articles about people’s favorite songs and albums of 2022. I’ve enjoyed reading them but I was not going to write a similar article for a simple reason: I have no favorite songs or albums from this year because I have listened to literally nothing that was released this year. That may sound impossible, but as I never listen to the radio (I still have a CD player in my car) and work from home (no iHeart Radio playlist blaring in the office) it’s easier than you might think.
I was content to let this one pass and work instead on something geared toward the new year. Then that serial writing prompter Pierce McIntyre got involved. He issued the writing challenge: “What Were Your Favorite Albums Released in 2022?” I should have ignored it, but we all know by now that there was no way I would. Instead, I turned the thing on its head and asked myself what my favorite albums of 2022 were regardless of release date. Take that, Pierce.
