My Favorite Films from Every Year I’ve Been Alive (Part Five: 2010–2021)
It was a Marvel-ous decade
We have reached the final installment of my series that has a longer runtime than Gone with the Wind (at least I gave several intermissions), and I have to say it’s been both the most fun and most vexing exercise I’ve undertaken in a while. I’m very vexed (bonus points if you can name the movie that’s from).
What has made it the most fun is that Simon Dillon and Eric Pierce were both foolhardy enough to join me on this magical mystery tour of our favorite films from every year we’re been alive. As a sidebar, for an excellent discussion on the idea of “favorite,” see this article from Eric. Seriously, go read it; I’ll wait.
What is vexing is that this final decade (plus a couple years) has been both outstanding and horrible in terms of movies; there are years where I have almost no honorable mentions, and one that…well, you’ll see soon enough. It should also be noted that 2020 and a good part of 2021 were severely impacted by the pandemic. I am not including 2022 because the year is only half over.
I probably don’t need to say this again, especially after Eric’s article, but remember that this is a list of my favorite films for each year of the 2010s. Sometimes the pick will also be the one I consider…
