July has flown by. It seems like only yesterday I was sitting on my balcony watching drunken semi-adults setting off fireworks, celebrating America by blowing off fingers and trying to reduce whole apartment blocks to ashes in the middle of a drought. My lack of awareness of time passing is the only excuse I have for being beaten to the punch by this month’s Dillon Picks, an ongoing contest which Simon Dillon steadfastly refuses to even acknowledge is a thing.

Fortunately, I kept a decent record of my favorites for this month, and what a month it was. For the first time since I started doing this one year ago, the list made it all the way to twenty entries and I still had to leave some really good ones off. Better to have too many than too few, though if this continues I may need to get an assistant like Simon has in Reginald the Rigorous and now Millicent the Malevolent. It doesn’t even have to be an obsequious minion either; I’d take a kid named Fred who can type.

At any rate, enough of my blathering; you came here for good stuff, after all, so let’s get on with it.

Batting leadoff in what I think is now a permanent position for him, Alex Markham proves that (like me) he occasionally listens to something…
