My 10 Favorite Traditional Christmas Songs in 10 Musical Genres

We’re ten days from Christmas, and I realized that while I’ve done articles on my all-time favorite Christmas song and a decidedly anti-Christmas playlist, I have yet to share a list of the traditional Christmas songs I love during the holidays. To be clear, by “traditional” I mean the type of carols/hymns you’ll hear during your once-yearly trek to church. To mix it up some, I have picked ten from ten different genres, and have admittedly been a little loose with what I consider a “genre.”

These may seem a bit too traditional for some, but if nothing else it should keep your various family factions from fighting about the music on Christmas morning, and nowadays one less fight is a good thing.

Metal: “We Three Kings” by Rob Halford. We might as well start with something unconventionally traditional, and nothing screams that like Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford.
