Morrissey or the Republican Presidential Candidates: Who Spoke These Uplifting Words?
It’s not as obvious as you might think
If you had lapsed into a coma just before Donald Trump descended the golden escalator at Trump Tower in 2015 and just woke up this morning, you could be forgiven for feeling like Charlton Heston in The Planet of the Apes, convinced that the world had gone completely mad. It has indeed gone mad, it’s just that those of us who have been awake for the past 8 years have grown accustomed to the madness, like a frog being slowly boiled to death in a pot without realizing it.
For everyone who wasn’t blissfully unconscious during this tragic era of American history, here’s a splash of icy water to highlight just how far we have truly fallen. Earlier this year, I did a quiz using Smiths lyrics and Shakespeare quotes where you had to choose who actually said it. This time, I give you ten quotes from either the merry band of Republican presidential hopefuls or that perennial sad-sack, former Smiths frontman Morrissey (and how weird is it that Moz has been a solo artist for seven times longer than The Smiths were together?).
