March Madness: The Month That Marks My Third Anniversary on Medium
It’s been a wild three years
The world has changed a lot in three years. When I started writing on this site in 2021, the Texas Rangers had still not won a World Series, the COVID-19 pandemic was still rampaging, and an alarmingly large number of Americans doubted the validity of the 2020 presidential election (ok, not everything has changed). From a personal standpoint, while I did know that three years later “Born to Run” would still be The Greatest Song Ever, when I hit “publish” on that first article in March 2021, I had no idea what a wild ride the next 36 months would be.
Before you start worrying about what lies ahead, let me assure you that this is not one of those horrid “I made $50 million on Medium and you can too if you buy my course for only $99.99” posts (somehow, three years later, those still clog our feeds and choke out real, quality content, with the only difference now being that the stories are written by an AI bot). I’m also not going to mention anything about the roller coaster we’ve all experienced since 2021 with regard to reads, views, or earnings. I’ve ranted about that occasionally before, but it has no place here. This anniversary post is about things that Medium has given me that no amount of money can buy. Here are just three:
