Let’s Do the Time Warp Again: I Was Certain 1993 Was Only Ten Years Ago
I’m old, but these twelve songs are timeless
Last night I was flipping between two documentaries (do I know how to spend a Friday night, or what?): the final episode of “The Secrets of Hillsong” (about the Australian megachurch scandal) and “Dirt: The Last Great American Sport” (about dirt track racing). During one segment of “Dirt,” they were interviewing driver Justin Grant and mentioned that he was 32 years old. He doesn’t look 32 (he looks 14 to me), so I looked him up on Wikipedia.
According to the font of all online knowledge, Grant was born on November 12, 1990; this is clearly not possible, since 1990 was only ten years ago. It was only ten years ago, right? Right??
Damn it.
Given this eye-opening information and a little quick math, I have come to the realization that 1993 was 30 years ago. Since I’ve done previous stories about songs that turned 50 and songs that turned 40 in 2023, I decided I should make something positive out of this new existential crisis and look at a few songs that turn 30 this year.
