Is Springsteen’s ‘Born to Run’ the Perfect Summer Album? I’m Glad You Asked
Of course it is
Three days ago I wrote a rant about the insane cost of concert tickets, one specifically focused on Bruce Springsteen’s upcoming world tour. While I stand by every word, from the moment I hit “publish” I have had a nagging fear: excommunication from The Fellowship of the E Street Band. You may think this could never happen, but remember that in addition to being the greatest bar band ever assembled, they are also septuagenarians from New Jersey, with all the “get-the-hell-off-my-lawn-you-moron” energy those two things imply.
So just to be safe (and as an olive branch of sorts to E Street Nation), I am wrapping up May with a far more positive piece about Bruce and the band. Besides being my oldest daughter’s birthday, June 1st has always been the true date summer starts for me, which makes the last day of May the ideal time to answer the age-old question: what is the greatest summer album of all time?
