In Case You Missed Them: My 10 Favorite Articles of the Past Month

For roughly a year starting in late 2021, I did a monthly piece highlighting some of my favorite stories from that month. A year seemed like a good run, so when it reached that point I stopped; most of us seemed to have found a way to navigate the decapitation of the profile bobbleheads of those we followed and thus were not missing as many stories as we did when that change was instituted (if you are new here and think the August 1st changes are new territory for Medium, think again).
However, I have noticed something in my stats this month that is surely not unique to me. Boosted stories do quite well, as you would expect; everything else is doing worse than before the change, with a precipitous drop off in reads after about three or four days. I can only assume that means that fewer of my stories are being seen, and the same must be true of my friends’ stories as well.
Simon Dillon must have anticipated this development well before it happened, as he brought back his monthly roundup, Dillon’s Picks, a few months ago.
