…greatly improve on original works that had good ideas but didn’t wholly deliver on their potential. For example, Steven Soderbergh’s Ocean’s Eleven (2001) is superior in every way to Lewis Milestone’s 1960 version. Viewed today, the original comes off as little more than a Frank Sinatra ego trip, whereas the newer version is a classic of the heist genre.
