I Picked ‘B’ Songs and You All Know Why
A Plethora of Pop challenge
Just when I thought it was safe to go back to the Plethora of Pop publication (having already fallen prey to Buddy Gott’s “Perfect Album from Each Decade of My Life” prompt), his fellow editor/partner-in-prompt mischief Kerry Purvis hit me with one I wanted to resist but could not (I am weak when it comes to books, tacos, and writing challenges). It was irresistible in part because of its simplicity: “The Pick A Letter Song Challenge.” You can read Kerry’s original story below, but in a nutshell you pick a letter and choose ten songs that start with that letter.
After a bit of thought, I realized that this was actually a slam dunk for me. I would simply choose the letter “B” and pick ten awesome Springsteen songs that begin with that letter (you may have already guessed which one would be first). Then, because I can never leave well enough alone, I decided to take a quick look at non-Bruce songs starting with “B,” and I have been down that rabbit hole for the past few hours.
