I get it. Much of the time I like the cover versions of Dylan’s songs more than the originals (though not always, obviously). He’s a lyrical genius, but your own comparison made me realize something. When I hear Dylan sing it makes me think; when I hear Johnny Cash sing it makes me smile. By that measure, I’ll take Johnny most of the time.
