I agree that megachurch finances (and many other things) are in serious need of reform, but I have no sympathy for this guy. Churches in America are private enterprises with no obligation to disclose any of their financial dealings to anyone but members.
Having been a member of a church even bigger than Fellowship and having had friends and relatives who were members of Fellowship, I can say that (at least up to around 2006 or 2007 when I moved) the members voted every year to approve the budget, which included the pastor's salary and housing allowance. Should they approve such a huge compensation package? I don't think so, but that's up to them.
In the end, the dude was trespassing on private property. In Texas, you get locked up for that.
