From the Archives: Five Things People Still Believe About Christmas That Just Are Not True
Continuing to set the holiday record straight
In the image above you will see the three wise men giving their gifts to the baby Jesus as he lies swaddled in the manger on Christmas morning. It’s a classic scene we all know well, and it couldn’t be more factually wrong if it was three Imperial stormtroopers offering gold, frankincense, and myrrh to Baby Yoda. Yet somehow the Christmas myths persist, even in my own church’s Nativity scene.
For years, I have ranted about the numerous Christmas myths to anyone who will listen (my family stopped listening around 2011). I even wrote about it on this site exactly one year ago today, and since the myths persist despite all my efforts, this anniversary seems the perfect time to share that story again:
