For me, all the handwringing by my kids’ friends over “the impending Third World War” goes right along with this. Not being the most empathetic sort, I usually reply with the line from Billy Joel’s song “Leningrad:” “Cold War kids were hard to kill, under our desks in an air raid drill.”
