Fireworks are a ludicrous waste of time and money, but do make a nice shiny diversion. They have them every night the Texas Rangers play at home in the city I grew up in, a city that is also home to the Dallas Cowboys, the original Six Flags, and the World Cup in 2026. Just watch the fireworks and ignore the fact that it has rising homelessness, rising crime, and is the largest city in America with no public transportation. At least the 1600 square foot house I grew up in that sold 30 years ago for $30K is now valued at $250K. Madness.
