Excellent article. My evangelical censorship experience came later in life, and was just as bad as this. From a popular culture standpoint my childhood was easy. The Irish priest in my parish in the 1970s did not care if we watched The Exorcist or listened to Black Sabbath as 10 year olds as long as we prayed every night for the IRA to defeat those demonic, Martin Luther-worshiping Brits. Stupidity knows no denomination.
