Excellent article. Being ex-military (as you also are), I clearly remember being taught to treat the blanks we used in some training exercises the same as you would actual live rounds. If they stress this with soldiers, how much more so should they with actors and film crews with little or no training. Perhaps it is time, now that we have the technology, to use only dummy weapons and add the “firing” in post-production.
