Eight Films for an Awesome Desert Island Exile

A variation on an old prompt

As I continue to swelter in the Texas heat, I find myself wishing I was on a desert island somewhere; it would have the double benefit of cooler temperatures and no people. Of course, whenever pondering something like this, I also have to decide what I would bring with me (besides my demonic cats, several bottles of Bailey’s, and ten cartons of Camel Menthols). Fortunately, I don’t have to ponder which books or music to bring, as that troublemaker Alex Markham issued a prompt two years ago that pulled me down that rabbit hole (you can read his original post below):

If you’re curious about my own picks, you can find the eight songs here, the seven books here, and the seven books of the Bible here. I also wrote a piece about the eight songs you should never, ever take with you to a desert island, just in case you’re more of a contrarian. You may have noticed something missing in this list: movies. Yes, somehow I have let two years pass without deciding what films I would take to that desert island.
