Celebrate Texas Independence Day With Five Springsteen Songs About the Lone Star State

On March 2, 1836, 59 delegates gathered at Washington-on-the-Brazos to sign the Texas Declaration of Independence, creating the Republic of Texas. On this 187th anniversary of that auspicious moment, you might expect that I would write something about the most famous event from that struggle for Texas Independence: the Battle of the Alamo. Not realizing I would be on this site this long, I actually wrote about that a year and a half ago. Check it out below:

Since I can’t write about the Alamo again, I’m doing the next best thing: mixing Texas with New Jersey by giving you five songs that mention Texas from that Northern Cowboy, Bruce Springsteen. Some of these are obvious, some are obscure, and one is a bit of a stretch but still fits.
