How much is American democracy worth? As a child, I was always taught that our Republic and what it stands for are simply priceless, but that was back in the Dark Ages before iPhones and AI. Today, it definitely has a monetary value, though in 2024 it seems to fluctuate even more than gasoline prices.
If you wonder how I could become privy to such sensitive information, the answer is simple: e-mails. Lots and lots of e-mails. I currently receive at least one from the Harris/Walz campaign every day and no fewer than two per day from the Trump/Vance campaign. And much like no matter how many times you kill Jason from the Friday the 13th series he keeps coming back, every time I unsubscribe from these e-mails (that I never subscribed to in the first place) new ones appear the next day.
There is a notable difference in the tone of the e-mails from the two campaigns (one is decidedly more positive than the other), but all share one thing in common: my immediate financial contribution is crucial to the survival of the United States of America. Here’s an example:
