For my entire time on this site I have had one folder for drafts, but at the rate Pierce McIntyre is cranking out writing challenges I may have to add a new one just for him. The latest is “What movies, TV shows, TV commercials, or songs have made you cry?” You can check it out below.

I have written before that I come from a family of stoics; we rarely cry when one of us dies, let alone at some movie or television show (and God forbid a commercial). Still, it made me think back to the times I’ve cried semi-recently, and like Pierce said in his article, it does seem to happen a bit more frequently as I get older. In fact, I cried twice this year alone: when Queen Elizabeth II died and when I saw the price of Springsteen concert tickets.

Prior to that, it was mainly deaths that brought tears, especially the passing of my grandmother in 1991 and Big Man Clarence Clemons in 2011. But movies? Maybe at the end of Avengers: Endgame (no spoilers here; if you know, you know), when we think Baloo is…
