It’s been a brutal four weeks, with classic albums from Let It Bleed to The Queen is Dead falling by the wayside faster than Chris Evans removes his shirt in every film he makes (right, Simon Dillon?). It came down to a final match between two heavyweights: Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon and Bruce Springsteen’s Born to Run. Dark Side of the Moon had increased its margin of victory as the rounds progressed, while Born to Run crushed every opponent it faced except Led Zeppelin IV. Neither of these things was true in the final, however.

The number of total votes cast increased with each round, which was nice to see. I may not even wait until next March to do another series like this. But enough of my blathering; you want to know this year’s champion. First, this is how we got here:

Sweet Sixteen:

1. Dark Side of the Moon 10 vs. Rumours 9

2. Rubber Soul 16 vs. Appetite for Destruction 3

3. London Calling 12 vs. Hotel California 7

4. Blonde on Blonde 13 vs. At Folsom Prison 6

5. Led Zeppelin IV 15 vs. Back in Black 4
