An Inauguration Day Question: Who Was the Hottest American President?
A query from my daughter altered my plans for the day
As many of you know, I spend the majority of my time these days with my octogenarian stepfather. As a result, the typical conversations revolve around things like doctor’s appointments, various aches and pains, home maintenance, and sports. It can get a little boring at times.
Thankfully, I also have two daughters in their 20s, and on this cold inauguration day, my youngest sent me the kind of text that keeps me sane:
“Who do you think the hottest president we ever had was? My vote is Obama, but I know JFK was also a player, so…”
A mature and responsible father would have replied that the men who have occupied the office of President of the United States were not to be treated like the latest Cosmopolitan article. Fortunately, I am at best semi-mature and very rarely responsible, so my immediate reply was this:
1. JFK
2. George W. Bush (I’m a Texan, after all)
3. Ulysses S. Grant (I like a soldier with a beard)
4. Barack Obama
5. Franklin Pierce
