Always as Good as He Once Was: Remembering Toby Keith
Gone far too soon
Country music star Toby Keith passed away yesterday from stomach cancer at the age of 62. For the past 35 years, the Oklahoma native did something rare in country music (or any other genre, for that matter): he gave us songs that always put a smile on our faces. He took this to another level with his videos, as you can see in the one below that inspired the title of this article:
For those who aren’t country music fans, you may only know Toby Keith from his feud with Natalie Maines, lead singer of The Dixie Chicks, in the early 2000s over both derogatory comments Maines made about President George W. Bush during a show in London and Keith’s 2002 song “Courtesy of the Red, White, & Blue.” If that’s all you know of Toby Keith, let’s change that with a song everyone who’s ever had a favorite bar can relate to:
