It’s Mother’s Day weekend in the United States and Canada, and a very happy Mother’s Day to all the moms reading this. For the auspicious Sunday when we honor the women who gave us life, I have a very special Rate-A-Record dedicated solely to songs about mom.

Before getting to the music though, I have a fun fact for you. According to several news reports I watched this morning, we will spend roughly $36 billion on mom this year, compared to $20 billion on dad come Father’s Day next month. That means this weekend will be the only time women are actually paid more than men. Maybe a better gift for mom this year would be fixing that ongoing problem.

Now on to some songs about mom.
