A Morrissey Ghost of Christmas Present Rate-A-Record
Not the one I expected to write
Since my weekly Rate-A-Record article comes out every Sunday and Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, I fully expected to offer you a few traditional Christmas songs to celebrate the day. I should know by now that while Charles Dickens could get away with having Great Expectations, I typically cannot. Call me a slow learner.
It’s my own fault, really. Two days ago I penned a snarky response to the Christmas “This or That” Challenge, blatantly tempting the holiday Fates to smack me. Which of course they did.
In that piece I mentioned that I was fighting a cold by treating it with Nyquil and bourbon. I work from home and generally avoid people; everyone else here works with the public, so obviously I blame them. Merry Christmas in quarantine.
So far, the symptoms have been mild (I’ve had both shots plus one booster), but I have had a few fever spikes the past couple days; one such spike and the fever dream that resulted is what has changed this Rate-A-Record from tidings of comfort and joy…
