There’s no denying that Mondays suck. Going back to work, fighting traffic, your favorite team losing on Sunday…they all combine to make it the worst day of the week. I’ve done a “Monday sucks” playlist before (you can find it at the end of this piece), but when I queued it up to get me started this morning it just didn’t do it for me. Neither did Guns N’ Roses or even (gasp!) Springsteen.

I seriously considered saying the hell with it and going back to bed, but that article on the glory of tacos isn’t going to write itself. I needed help. Then, like a flash of lightning across a clear blue sky, it hit me. There is one band that always lifted my back-to-school Monday blues when I was a kid, and it is amazingly one that I have rarely mentioned in any article.

The Beatles.

How is it possible that I’ve never written a word about the lads from Liverpool, without whom there would likely be no Bruce for me to gush about 1,000 words at a time? It’s a mystery, like the Bermuda Triangle or why I’m always missing one sock after doing laundry. And there’s no time like the present to correct that glaring error.

Choosing the right songs from the Fab Four to chase away the Monday blahs is no small…
